Carbon Wasp Introduces Recycled Carbon Fibre in Composite Bicycle Components

Source date: 6 November 2026

UK bicycle manufacturer Carbon Wasp has started using recycled carbon fibre from Lineat Composites in its composite components. Recycled fibre currently represents approximately 10% of the carbon fibre in its mountain bike frames, with the proportion varying across components.

Lineat processes chopped recovered fibres into aligned unidirectional tape, rather than relying solely on randomly oriented short-fibre reinforcement. Carbon Wasp uses the recycled material in visible surface layers and reports favourable mould conformity and finish.

Industry perspective: The application offers an example of integrating recycled reinforcement into manufactured composite parts. Reported mechanical and carbon-footprint advantages are company claims, not independent comparative results. A proposed closed-loop route for end-of-life bicycle frames is still under development.
