ALTA Performance Materials Agrees to Acquire BASF Palatal Resin Business in Chile

ALTA Performance Materials has agreed to acquire BASF’s Palatal resin operation in Concón, Chile. The facility produces unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins used in composite applications including industrial equipment, tanks and piping.

If completed, the transaction would add a second Latin American manufacturing location to ALTA’s existing operation in Brazil. The companies have not announced completion: the proposed sale remains subject to customary conditions and regulatory approvals, and BASF retains ownership until closing.

Industry perspective: The proposed acquisition is relevant to the regional supply of corrosion-resistant resin systems for mining, chemical processing and infrastructure. No verified change to resin prices or available output can yet be inferred from the announcement.
