Strohm Wins Contract for Four Composite Pipe Jumpers in Ultra-Deepwater Southeast Asia

Thermoplastic composite pipe manufacturer Strohm announced on 28 October 2026 that it had secured a contract to supply four gas-production jumpers for an ultra-deepwater project in Southeast Asia.

Each jumper will use a carbon-fibre-reinforced PA12 construction, have an internal diameter of 6.9 inches and measure approximately 1,000 metres. The planned installation depth exceeds 2,200 metres. McDermott’s Subsea and Floating Facilities business will procure and install the lines for an international operator using a vertical lay system.

For the composites supply chain, the contract illustrates a demanding application for continuous-fibre thermoplastic pipe systems. Spoolable construction can simplify transport and offshore deployment, while corrosion resistance is particularly valuable in subsea service. Strohm states that its TCP technology is qualified for a 30-year design life; this should be understood as a design qualification, not evidence that the new project has already achieved that lifetime.
